Viloma Pragman Or Converse Progressions In Vedic Jyotish Written By Vishal Aksh

Ayanansh Sanchaar The progressions in Vedic astrology (part: 01)

There are many books on astrology but hardly any book gives clear picture about the predictive side of astrology. In almost all books only rules have been given but there is no mention about how and in which situations those rules are applicable. In many cases it is observed that rules existing in any horoscope in full measure do not exist in actual position. Are all rules given in classical books about astrology wrong? But if they are wrong then how the predictions made by experts come into being? It is observed that predictions made by experts on the basis of astrology come true successfully. The following examples create doubts about the predictive side of astrology:-

The sub period of Rahu in the main period of Sun should prove adverse as per rules of astrology but contrary to it one got unexpected promotion.

The sub period of Rahu in the main period of Moon should prove adverse but one got very good job within this period.

The sub period of Ketu in the main period of Rahu is given as adverse period in almost all the astrological books but in actual practice one unemployed person started his career within this period.

In one case of Kanya Lagna horoscope with Sun in debilitation in second house with no cancellation of debilitation of Sun its period proved prosperous with financial excellence but as per astrological rule it might proved a period of crisis and humiliations.

In one case of a person of rising sign Tula the person had down trends in his career as soon as the main period of Yogakarka Saturn started. In his horoscope Saturn was beautifully placed in fifth house.

Many more examples are there showing these opposite result. The main problem is not the rules of classical astrology but it is the application of these rules without a firm astrological mechanism.

The rules given in astrological books should be treated as guide lines and they should be refined on the basis of knowledge and experience before being applied in actual practice.

One thing all has to accept that for years many experts predicted events before their occurrence on the basis of astrology so it needs no proof in its favor so it is an axiom.
First of all it will be nice to make a list about axioms so that an astrological mechanism should be developed.
Axioms: –
(1) Astrology is an applied science used for predictions.

(2) Vimshottri Dasha, when applied correctly, gives amazing results.

(3) Vimshottri Dasha should be calculated from moon or rising sign whichever is powerful

(4) For all predictive purposes the daily motion of Sun is taken as one Degree.

(5) The Sanskrit word Ansh implies both as a Degree as well as Divisions.

(6) In astrology Lagna, Chander Lagna and Surya Lagna are used for predictive purposes. In other words three lagna are used for predicting One’s life events.

(7) The following signs occupied by different planets are taken as lagans of one’s different relatives:-

(7.01) Sign occupied by Sun taken as lagna for one’s father

(7.02) Sign occupied by Moon taken as lagna for one’s mother

(7.03) Sign occupied by Mars taken as lagna for one’s brother

……..continuing from part 01
(7.04) Sign occupied by Mercury taken as lagna for one’s maternal uncle

(7.05) Sign occupied by Jupiter taken as lagna for one’s child

(7.06) Sign occupied by Venus taken as lagna for one’s spouse

(7.07) Sign occupied by Saturn taken as lagna for one’s servant

(7.08) Sign occupied by Rahu taken as lagna for one’s grandfather (Paternal)

(7.09) Sign occupied by Ketu taken as lagna for one’s grandfather (Maternal)

(7.10) Vedic Niryaan system (Sidereal System) to be used in applied astrological mechanism.

(7.11) Commencement of New Year in one’s life is to be taken as the commencement of Maha Dasha of one year.

(7.12) True Rahu & True Ketu should be taken for prediction

There must be some postulates and these are designed in such a way that these postulates seldom go against the classical theory of Vedic astrology. These postulates are based on my years of experience and researches conducted in the field of Vedic astrology. These postulates will be helpful to understand and develop predictive astrological mechanism.

Postulates: –

(1) Dasha should be calculated both from Lagna as well as from Moon

(2) Every Ansh chart (Divisional Chart) should be used to predict every prospects of one’s life

(3) Lord ship, conjunctions and aspects etc. of planets should be taken in Ansh charts (Divisional Charts) also.

Postulate (2) needs some clarification. In classical Vedic astrology every divisional chart is used to predict about one specific prospects of one’s life. They are as follows:-

(a) Lagna is used to predict about one’s physical body system

(b) Hora** is used to predict about one’s wealth

(c) Drashkan is used to predict about one’s co-born

(d) Chaturthansh is used to predict one’s fortune

(e) Panchmansh** is used to predict about one’s spiritual attainments

(f) Shastansh is used to predict about one’s health

(g) Saptansh is used to predict about one’s children

(h) Asthmansh is used to predict about one’s term of life

(i) Navansh is used to predict about one’s life partner

(j) Dashmansh is used to predict about one’s profession

(k) Ekadashansh is used to predict about one’s sudden gains

(l) Dwadashansh is used to predict about one’s parents

(m) Shodashansh is used to predict about one’s desires and vehicles

(n) Vimshansh is used to predict about one’s spiritual attainments

(o) Siddhansh is used to predict about one’s academic prospects

(p) Bhansh is used to predict about one’s strength and weakness

(q) Trismansh** is used to predict about one’s miseries in life

(r) Khavedansh is used to predict about ones auspicious and inauspicious events

(s) Akshvedansh is used to predict about all events of one’s life

(t) Shysthansh is used to predict about all events of one’s life.

But this postulate (2) is designed with slight modification that each and every divisional chart mentioned above is used to predict about each and every events of one’s life.

** Hora Horoscope is of two types both are useful
** Panchmansh Horoscope is of two types both are useful
** Trismansh Horoscope is also of two types both are useful

Postulate (3) also needs some clarification and explanation. In Rashi Chakra the conjunctions, aspects and lordships of planets are to be taken because it is a real pattern which occurs in nature but the Divisional charts are imaginary ones it appears astronomically unsound to take these conjunctions etc. in Divisional charts. But it is not so because here one is going to deal with the predictive side of astrology which may differ from astronomical facts. These things are determined on the basis of my years of experience in the field of Vedic astrology that is why it is postulated.

Postulate (1) states that Vimshottri Dasha should be calculated both from Lagna as well as from Moon. It is tested over a large number of horoscopes that Vimshottri Dasha calculated on the basis of Lagna works as accurately as it works when calculated from Moon. Predictions made from this Dasha from Lagna came true accurately. That is why it is taken as Postulate (1).

Ayanansh Sanchaar The progressions in Vedic astrology (part: 03)

……..continuing from part 02

Motion of Astrological Sun:-

In an astrological book, Sanket Nidhi, based on Vedic classical astrology it is stated that check the positions of moon three, four, seven and ten days before the day at birth if the position of moon found auspicious than the birth year, 3rd year from birth, fourth year from birth, seventh year from birth and 10th year from birth will be auspicious. There is a big clue given in this book in other words previous day from birth should have dominance over the first year of one’s life and so on for other years.
This is proved after years of research works on Vedic astrology conducted by me

Axiom (4) states that for all predictive purposes Sun moves a complete degree in a day. In other words an astrological day may be defined as a complete degree motion of Sun constitutes an astrological day. That mean previous degree of Sun from the Sun at birth would suggest previous day and so on. To give the result of first year of life Sun would be at previous degree from that at birth and so on. In other words years after birth starts progressing one by one and astrological position of Sun starts progressing backwards one by one degree from one’s birth. It is concluded that astrological Sun transits one degree with backward motion in a year. This axiom is also tested in a large number of cases and found to give amazing results.

Derivation 1: – For all astrological purposes astrological Sun is at one degree backward position with respect to its position at birth and it starts moving backwards from this position at an annual rate of one degree in one year.

Explanation of Derivation 1: – Let us assume a case of a person with the position of Sun in his horoscope say 244deg.13’ 25” and let us try to find the position of astrological Sun at the commencement of his 41st year.
In this situation current year in question from one’s birth year is to be taken not the number of completed years i.e. one should take Number of completed years from one’s birth + 1 which is 41 in this case. So the position of astrological Sun at the commencement of one’s 41st year will be 244deg.13’ 25” – 41 = 203deg.13’ 25”. So in this supposed case astrological Sun will be at 203deg.13’ 25” at the time of commencement of that person’s 41st year.

Formula 1: – Astrological Sun = S – (N + 1)

Where S = Niryaan (Sidereal) Longitude of Sun at epoch
N = Number of completed year from birth.

This Sun is nothing but the solar lagna so in other words astrological Solar Lagna will be at one Degree before the position of actual Solar Lagna at birth and from this position the astrological Solar Lagna starts moving backward at an annual rate of one degree in backwards direction.

As per axiom (6) there are three lagna i.e. rising sign, Solar sign and Lunar sign and when Solar lagna has backward motion then by symmetry it is clear that Rising sign and Lunar sign will also have similar motions.

Formula 2: – Astrological Rising Sign = R – (N + 1)

Where R = Niryaan (Sidereal) Longitude of Rising Sign at epoch.

Formula 3: – Astrological Lunar Lagna = L – (N + 1)

Where L = Niryaan (Sidereal) Longitude of Moon at epoch.

As per axiom (7) every planet acts as lagna under specific case so every planet including lagna have per year backward motion starting from one degree from its actual position at epoch.

Formula 4: – Astrological Planets = P – (N + 1)

Where P = Niryaan (Sidereal) Longitude of any planet at epoch.

Formula 2 and 4 are very useful and once again they are rewritten: –

Astrological Rising Sign = R – (N + 1)
= r – A – (N + 1)
= r + {-A – (N + 1)}
Formula 5: – Astrological Rising Sign = r – {A + (N + 1)}

Where r = Syaan (Tropical) Longitude of rising sign at epoch.
A = ayanansh at epoch

By symmetry Formula 4 becomes

Formula 6: – Astrological Planets = p – {A + (N + 1)}
Where p = Syaan (Tropical) Longitude of any planet.

A careful understanding of Formula 5 and 6 enable one to conclude a wonderful thing, if one look at the term in bracket i.e. A + (N + 1). This shows that it is the Astrological ayanansh which is moving with an annual rate of one degree starting from its position at epoch only when Syaan (Tropical) positions of Rising sign and Planets are assumed as not changing. So formula for finding Astrological Ayanansh will be as follows: –

Formula 7: – Astrological Ayanansh = a = A + (N + 1) when Syaan (Tropical) position of Rising sign or Planets is to be assumed as constant.

From Formula 7 it is clear that astrological ayanansh is at one degree ahead of astronomical ayanansh and from this position it starts its journey with an annual rate of one degree in the direction of the astronomical ayanansh.

So formulae 5 & 6 become

Formula 8: – Astrological Rising Sign = r-a

Formula 9: – Astrological Planets = p-a
Formulae 1, 2 & 3 further suggest wonderful results and those results will prove to be the pillars in Ayanansh Sanchaar: –

The astrological positions of three lagans can be calculated astronomically because these three lagans always have direct motion and almost regular motion but other planets have direct as well as retrograde motions and sometimes become almost stationary so it becomes practically impossible to calculate their position astronomically to be utilized in predictive purposes. The only way is to take the fictitious motion of Ayanansh.
